FAQs: Adaptive Music Classes

What are some goals in AMC?

Goals vary per student and are determined together with the parent, and student. Here are a few examples: Increased sensory, social and/or cognitive stimulation; Increased physical movement; Increased verbal and nonverbal communication

My child has a 504 or an IEP plan. How can AMC benefit them?

Music lessons can help with a wide variety of learning difficulties including academic subjects, social, behavioral, or emotional needs.

My child has a hearing impairment. Will he/she still benefit from AMC?

Yes! Music and rhythms can be felt through touch or vibrations from a variety of instruments, especially drums.

Are your classes inclusive?

Yes, we encourage inclusion in all our classes. Our desire is to not only support our students with specials needs, but to build awareness, sensitivity, and friendship for all students regardless of their abilities.

Does my child need to be musical in order to benefit from AMC?

Not at all. Your child can benefit from AMC regardless of their musical background.

Will my child learn to play an instrument?

Our lesson do include instrument exploration but it is different from teaching instruments. Learning the basics of an instrument can be a great goal for some students, especially for increasing attention span, growing self-esteem, and more!
